This is a tricky topic and there is more then one way to skin a cat. There are many ways to make your company go viral. Going viral online means “a method of marketing whereby consumers are encouraged to share information about a company’s goods or services via the Internet”. I first want to clarify that inorder to go viral you have to have an audience that already engage with your marketing efforts, create content thats engaging, have people actually following your brand and timing is everything.

Its very rare that your content will go viral if you don’t post content on the regular. Now, there are rare cases where brands or individuals have posted something that was funny, inspiring or just relevant with the current events and went viral. Those brands are out there, but thats what you call a hit or miss. When you are able to do it over and over again you have a proven system. The key is to constantly create content that your audience would annitially be interested in on the regular. Let the people get familar with your voice of your brand, so when you make that ultimate content its like boom! Now you have thousands and sometimes millions of views, comments and followers.

You have to also create content thats first engaging to your audience. You have to know who your audience is. For example, if your business is life insurance and most of the people following you are teenagers there will be a disconnect everytime. So building the right audience and then understanding your audience is key to success. Another example is if you have mostly middle age women that follow your brand then you want to research how your brands voice can connect with that Buyer Persona.

Building your audience is very important but building the right audience is even more important thenever before. Once you know whos buying your services and products you want to make sure that those buyer personas are following your brand. Don’t expect for your content to go far if you don’t have an audience, because noone will see it. Build that audience, create content on the regular, and I promise as you get the hang of things you will go viral. Active users is another key when trying to go viral.

Timing is everything when posting content. The best marketing is posting relevant topics of whats going on in the daily media. For example, the Olympic Games are held every four years, with the Summer and Winter Games alternating by occurring every four years but two years apart, if you comment on the olympics, as its relevant on the masses minds, then its most likely that your brand will become relevant as well, if done right. Stay relevant with the times and post content when your audience is mostly active.
